"everyone goes through the same things"

I've just had a mental breakdown associated with my not-as-severe-as-I-think-it-is social anxiety, which has inspired me to officially start this blog, which will basically be me ranting on about humanity. Not much really. I just need 'someone' to talk to when I don't want to talk to anyone I guess, haha.

And I'm going to start with the ways of reassuring people when they're going through a hard time.

Quite often, the first response to someone who is in a difficult situation, is mentioning about how they have/had a similar situation to follow the whole, "I know how you feel."

But how reassuring is that? Take one of the most common examples of this from the perspective of a just-about-to-graduate high school student. We're on school holidays right now - our last ever high school holiday - and trials are just around the corner. Quite often, one of my friends or even I will let out a "I haven't done anything the entire holidays!!!". The response is always "me too!"

Almost every time someone responds to my complaints with an "everyone goes through that eventually", it's not really being helpful because it's just saying: no one can help you because that's just how life is, so too bad deal with it.

And that's the reason why I get so cautious when people are complaining about their lives now. Almost too cautious in fact. To the point where I literally have nothing to say back to them, so I go back to the complaining about my life as a response because I'm just another part of the self-centered community known as humanity.

(Ugh. I wish I could articulate my thoughts in a better way than this messy post. But, oh well. I don't actually intend on anyone actually reading this anyway. Haha.)
